    The rail consists of two 6" sections. One allen-head bolt and they come apart ( a standard on each half). If the swings are loosened on each standard and the rails put parallel with the standards, it compresses into as small of a package as any field camera. When wandering around for the day, I hardly notice it on the tripod -- holders and meter in a shoulder bag.
