    copal #0 stubborn screw

Trying to get the escapement out for cleaning but one of the screws is awfully stubborn. Saw another discussion where someone had actually sheared the head off the same screw, want to avoid doing that The other screw had a drop of something I guess similar to thread lock but it broke free fairly easily. Don't know what's up with this screw and thought I'd check to see if anyone had any ideas before I admit defeat and send it off.

I think acetone will defeat thread-lock if that’s what’s holding it.

What technique(s) allowed you to remove it?

Few drops of acetone. Not sure if it made a difference or not but all of a sudden the screw was loose.

I took off the cover of a 1940's era Ilex shutter to clean. Got it running like new. I used a tiny amount of removable Loctite to reassemble. I don't know what they used in the 40's in the US but it sure held those little screws at just the right torque.
