Scans of prints I made today. I want to revisit the one door on a cloudy day so I don't have the shadow of the tree and that bright spot on the door.

Agreed. I sit there, see a door with a nice shadow on it, and it *never* works when I develop the neg.

The palisade, though I really like. I just can't let a row of columns go

The columns was a pain to print. Bottom half is 6 seconds and the top 3 seconds. I tried to dodge the door to lighten it, but not much you can do with three seconds. Then again I'm still learning in the darkroom. The picture is cropped too, the first two columns are lined up at the edge on the negative. Can't see too well to get full use of the paper, I should probably try without the red lights on.

If you have a variable contrast enlarger, reduce the contrast (go to a lower grade) and shut down your enlarger lens several stops to get more time for dodging.

I have the contrast filters. I didn't think of stopping down the lens. Still learning, but it is fun, and the hours just fly by while in the darkroom.

This lovely old door may well have been destroyed in the 2016 Soberanes fire.
