Before I could finish making my photograph, the skies opened up and I was running for cover.

BTW, an old fellow trying to run through tall meadow grass, with a large format camera on a tripod, takes on an inebriated Sasquatch-like quality.

Gratefully, a small 100+ year old barn was nearby and provided sanctuary. As I lamented the photograph “not made”, I noticed this scene in a dark corner. Soft light coming from a crack in the barn’s log wall helped illuminate these doors that framed an informal still life. An unexpected, and initially unwelcome, monsoon storm helped me discover a wonderful scene that would have otherwise eluded me. How can you not love serendipity.

    That's beautiful. Well done.

Salmo...guessing the tripod was wooden...so you could live to share this with us? Seriously, what a gift to have been given this bit of sanctuary, and to have come away with such a great photograph! Nice sense of softness/crispness, delicate scale, geometric progression, sense of time passing...and I would love to see what looks to be great and rich shadow detail in person, as this is something that my mac screen cannot convey faithfully. At any rate...nice work!

Thank you all for the kind words. It was a rewarding experience.
