    Pentax Digital Spot Meter (Zone VI Holster)

    I've had this meter for years (purchased used though). When I got it it came with the leather Zone VI holster - which i don't use. The other day i pulled the holster from my cabinet and realized the leather was getting pretty dry so i set about conditioning it.

    I noticed on the back there are 2 small initials ("PD") in the leather done in much the same way as the Zone VI logo on the flap.

    I was wondering if anyone knew if these initials indicated anything - either who did the conversion, or maybe the initials of whomever originally ordered the meter?

    Just a curiosity more than anything else. They could have been done by one of the previous owners too but the fact that they kind of match the quality of the ZoneVI logo got me thinking. Does anyone else with these holsters have initials in theirs?

    By golly, I have never looked! Mine has "PS" stamped on it in the same place as your "PD" -- but smaller font and not stamped level.

    Just looked at mine ...
    Never noticed it but mine has just a " P " stamped right between the belt slots on the back side.

    I think we're on to something big here guys!

    Makes me curious, maybe it has something to do with who made the holsters

    I would guess the PD indicates a Pentax Digital holster and the P indicates the original Pentax analog meter. Of course, the PS on Vaughn's holster raises serious questions about my logic!

    Pentax never made leather holsters. Could it be the leather maker's mark? That's my two bits.

    They were made by/for Zone VI.

    Exactly. Handmade is my guess, ZVI not being a big operation. Al Weber had a leather guy making a similar case at his Victor operation. Just an idea.

    Obviously, I wasn't allowed to own ZVI products.

    PS = Pentax Spotmeter?
    P = Pentax?
    PD = Pentax Digital?
    (So S or SS would be Soligor or Soligor Spotmeter, for which Zone VI also made holsters?)

    Just guessing.

    Doremus. I forgot about the Soligor meters. Your theory is sound.
