    If the old computer has a hard drive "going", that drive can be duplicated if it's not too far gone. Then you're back in business.

    Use a usb stick with G4L (or in linux dd or ddrescue) to dupe to a new same or bigger drive.

    I like photoshop.

    I still use CS-4 and it works fine for me. I make photos saving only RAW files. I use ACR in photoshop to process.

    Photoshop is about layers and blending. I find I need to do very little photoshop processing since I strive to get what I want the photograph to be in camera. I did write a few actions but it is mostly to speed things up when I had my business. I even had one where I used a green screen and slid in the background during processing.

    At any rate, photoshop is a great program. It really helped my business to stay ahead of the competition.
