Exposure and dev times both essentially guesswork, so neg rather thin and more work in post than usual, but v pleased with outcome.

5x7 inch wet plate collodion negative. Voigtlander Petzval used, with home-made waterhouse stop (maybe f5.6?)

Two years ago I photographed a selection of Daffodils picked from various places on the farm. To my surprise, one of the Daffodils photographed as black on wet plate! Yesterday I did some 4x5 plates around the gardens to see if I could locate the mysterious "black" Daffodils. (I did) This is how they photographed under studio conditions.

Beautiful and interesting. Why do you think they are invisible to the emulsion? Do you have a color snapshot from the phone or something to compare how our eyes see them compared to the collodion?

    Hi Jim.
Many flowers appear darker (or lighter, or with changed markings) when photographed on Collodion, which relies heavily on reflected UV light. Most of the Daffodils on the farm photograph looking fairly normal, but for some reason, this group of Daffs photographs very dark. I have no idea why. Its clearly a different variety than most of the rest we have, but visually they appear identical to the rest! (no darker than the average Daffodil)

There's a sermon illustration in there somewhere. I just have to mine it out. ;~'))

Confined to home I decided to go back to basics.
I had an old lens I bough a few years ago with the idea of using it in an instant camera project - that never got started. So yesterday I mounted it on a lens panel and loaded some Fomapan 100 and put a vase of tulips by the window.
