Thanks for that! I have a 90mm SA around so that could be a candidate for a lens. Looks well tought out. Just a single question: how well works the "ground glass"? You mention you used acrylic matted with silicon carbide. Care to say what silicon carbide? I do have valve lapping compound around in several grits but is that usable?

One day I'll finish my 3D printer...

    nice job!
i allways wanted a 3d printer, but i am afraid it is too complicated for me to work with.
on the other hand, i like to work in wood and metal and are quite comfortable with my limitations.

    havoc
i make my own groundglasses, very easy to do, provided you have a absolutely plane piece of glass and the right grade carabide.
the carbide is quite cheap on ebay . the glass i buy from the glazier, the type he use for framing pichtures, works fine, but if you want it perfect you can buy "white glass" from a specialist shop. standard glass has a green color seen from the narrow / cut side.
    i tried grade 400 + 600 + 1200 in alu based grinding powder.
the coarser 400 grit gives more light in the corners but i feel i miss detail, grit 1200 is just too fine, so i ended up with grit 600, very hard to see differnce to the ones you buy.
i have made a few in acrylic that works too.
i use water with the carbide, i also tried the stuff you use for valvegrinding, then you must use oil for diluting .
another way to make groundglass in acrylic is lazer grinding. i had one made in Poland for my 20x24" camera, works great, but you have to use a coarser ( 400 ?) grit to have enough light on the big screen.
