    arista ortho litho film 3

I have just bought some ortho litho 4x5, as it is not notched, which side is the emulsion? I did read it on a forum but didn't save the info and can not find it now. my choices are bluish grey or brick red. I tried some water and assume it is the reddish side. If anyone actually know it would save me testing time etc as my time is very limited at the moment. Thanks in advance

I have not used this film, but my gut feeling is the emulsion is the grey side. If you lick your finger it should stick to the emulsion and not the base. Another test is to scrape the film with a razor blade. The emulsion will scrape off and the base will only scratch.

Check the film under a safelight; the emulsion side is a lighter shade than the back.
