Whatever you do... also watch your step. Last time I was In Boston with that kind of weather I slipped on ice and landed flat on my back. My camera was found carefully nestled in my tummy. The camera fared well; my back not so much.
Breath condensing on my ground glass is a pain...and my solution for this involves using a black t-shirt as a dark cloth - draping the large end over the camera, putting my head through the head-end, and then pulling part of the collar back so my nose and mouth are now completely outside (the bridge of my nose holds the collar in place)...and so no breath gets to the glass. Furthermore...a single layer black t-shirt is fine for most purposes when its cold out (no need for outer white heat-reflective layer) and thus the thin, single layer of fabric can breathe a bit to further help mitigate condensation.
Very good specific advise John!
