Cleaning A Lens of Fog

Looks like damaged coating; if that is the case, you will need to polish off that coating.

First you grind the coating off, equally across the lens, then you redcoat it. As grinding itself will modify the lens surface don’t expect it to perform like originally. Also this is not a diy project as it is very doubtful that you have the tools to grind it off controllably and definately don’t have the equipment and knowledge to recoat it correctly.

There are companies that will do this, not cheaply though.

I second Bob's post... I once followed DIY instructions published in a nationally distributed magazine on how to re-polish a lens. In the end I had ruined the lens.

Nope, turns out is was fog/haze after all; came off right away with lens cleaner, followed by a distilled water rinse.

Also wanted to add that I used a very good microfibre cloth, made by Green Clean (Austria): https://green-clean.at/produkt/silky...hable/?lang=en
They gave me a few samples at a trade show last year, and the cleaning cloth is unlike any other I've used.

Did she give you their other cleaning stuff? Her digital sensor equipment is very good.

Yes, I got a couple of sensor-cleaning kits, one for FF another for APS-C sized sensors.

She is very persistent. She want you to distribute? She kept after us for a long time but we had too many conflicting lines to do her justice.

Yes, she did, and I also refused.
They're excellent products, but a tough sell at those Austrian prices when most people are content to use a bit of compressed air.
