    Scarecrows

I couldn't find a scarecrow thread. It strikes me that using a birdhouse as a head for a object meant to scare away birds might be sending some mixed messages, but what do I know, I'm just a photographer.

Are crows more scared of daemon looking things or ones modeled more closely to farmer John, I wonder.

You know what crows are scared of? Hawks! They are absolutely terrified of them. In fact, here in Portland, we have a trio of hawks that have been trained to flush the city's crows into less peopled locations. I'm not making this up. One of the hawks is named Clive. In any case, maybe scarecrows should take the form of gigantic hawks. I would definitely photograph that.

Atop a downtown building in my present home town is what from the ground appears to be a weather worn replica of a hawk posed for take-off. It makes a good perch for pigeons.

There is a building in downtown Decatur GA that has highly reflective windows. They had problems with birds crashing into the windows so they have loudspeakers playing bird distress noises to keep them away. Maybe scarecrows need a voice.
