I didn't see a problem as long as the nuts were inside the FS cut-out...

I'm dealing with a older Tek III board that is thinner, and the oversized hole is almost the baffle cut out size, but outside of it has no room for screws +nuts... I probably have to go to epoxy to make this adapter board...

Linhof used to rivet flanges to some boards...

I wish they'd put self-tapping threads on lenses. I have an enlarging lens for which I have no retaining ring. I made a ring out of soft wood and forced the lens into the hole.

You cannot tap a hole in a plate that is thinner than the diameter of the thread (not if you want to secure anything with that thread). Just drill a hole and use a star washer and nut at the other side with a dab of loctite. Otherwise, turn both sides down to bare metal and use loctite (the variety for definitive mounting gears) but then you need a close fit on the surfaces. You could also go vintage and use rivets but then you need the blind ones otherwise you can end up with a light leak.

Ihave 6 or 7 Technika boards which have been tapped in this manner. A nut can be applied on the rear of the board if one feels insecure.

And with the lens removed, a little flat black paint sprayed on the back of the lens board also serves as thread locker...

Make sure you tape over the threads on the lens flange.
