Thornton Pickard shutter: replacement string/cord ?

As the title says: I'm looking for new strings / cords for a few Thornton Pickard and likewise rollerblind shutters.
Anyone here who did restore them and knows a source for the tiny strings?

Kite string these days is kevlar, dacron or other thin high strength polymers. Or simple nylon.

Quite a few years ago, I made one using thread for sewing leather, 1mm dia. Worked well and looked original.

Thanks Havoc, the Kevlar en Dacron might be usable - at least for me - since these are braided stings and might look not much different from the original. Nylon could of course work as well, but from an esthetics pov it would not have my preference.

Thanks for that idea DMS2006 - I will certainly look into that since the 1mm exactly the size of the original! Any source for sewing leather thread?

I have a reel of it somewhere and have two fps sitting on my desk soaking up some conditioner ready for reassembly. The other good thing is that it has a wax coating on it,, which I believe would make it easier to use?

Unfortunately, Ian Grant, who was a specialist in T-P shutter servicing and repair, hasn't been able to post here since 2017!
There may be a "body of knowledge" lurking here locatable using "advanced search". I found my thread solution through one of my daughters' handicrafts contacts who had some heavy duty waxed twine which did the job without being "out of place" visually.

Just seen the southern hemisphere offer - I will check if I have the reel still. And save the jet transport .

Ron, in the netherlands you should google for "koord om leer mee te naaien" of "gewaxt draad om leer te naaien".

Isn't IanG the very same esteemed Mr Grant? I thought so, but I may be mistaken.
