I am trying to recall the name of an American photographer who used a 10x8 camera in 4x10 format. He has done photography in Scotland where I think he has also ran workshops.
I am aware that this is not much to go on, but can anyone help?

I believe Tillman's running a course in Scotland in October.

Alan, Tillman is working entirely in digital these days, per his newsletters. While he advertises that his workshops are open to all formats, I suggest you contact Tillman directly if your own interest is large format, to see if the workshop meets your own needs.
Thank you Peter, but I wasn't thinking about a workshop. Tillman was a name from the past who I remembered produced some interesting letterbox format photographs. I thought they were 4x10 but it turns out they were 5x12. I was interested in seeing them again because I am thinking of making a mask so I can do some 2x5 negatives.

Hi Alan
In case you're also interested, Brian Kosoff (from memory) used to shoot 2 x 5 with his Linhof (masked)
