Winter, snow and ice. What better to do than to fix me up a few 4x10 film holder.

I designed it in Fusion 360.
I printed in black PETG on a Anycubic Kobra Plus printer.
It's printed as 9 parts that are glued and screwed together.
Perhaps not as rigid as my wooden holders Chamonix holders but good enough.
Painted with matte black vinyl color on the inside.
The light trap is some black cotton cloth and a cut and bended spring made from a 0,15 mm brass spring sheet.
Dark slides are also printed but I'm not entirely happy with them. Have some black Garolite sheets heading my way and I'm hoping they will do a better job.
Material is about $20. Hours just too many. But now it's just repeat for the next ones

If anyone is interested I can put up the files on Thingiverse.

Now off for some real world test

Very cool. Will be interested to see how well they work. I want to get a Titan 4x10 pinhole but finding decent 4x10 holders is hard.

    Good for you maybe

What is the accrual environmental load

I gave up on DIGI Printers as they all fail

    and very hard to recycle

worse, where I live NO recycling of anything

    and Roundup rules

but I am 60 miles from the last NUKE factory and it is operating again

Who said? "we will bury you'

    i remember

Looks well thought out, and very well executed. Are the screws self-tapping, or using heat set sockets? Are the white inserts printed, or tape?

I'd be a bit cautious about 3D printing the dark slides because of opacity issues, but 6 or 8 layers at 0.2mm might do it. Garolite or black anodized aluminium might be better, but aluminium at that thickness can bend.

    Thanks.
I use heat set thread insert, There are some pressure from the light trap spring so I think that is a must.
And the white side of handle on the dark slide is printed and the label is tape.

And the dark slide looks opaque, but there could be issues. That's why I ordered a few sheets of garolite

Would love to see the files on Thingiverse! Not sure of Fusion360 files are sharable, but that is good too!

Thanks for posting the part files. I hadn't thought to make a finger spring rather than buy one, but for just a few it probably makes sense. I like bookbinding tape for the flap hinge, but anything the right thickness that sticks and does not fray will work. Using screws is a nice touch, as the light traps do wear.

I have been mulling over doing a couple of 2x3 holders to round out my set, and this should help with the plan.

Didn't know what the springs were called and that you can by them. I made a tool to make it easier to cut.

And I loaded it with film today and let it sit outside in daylight for a couple of hours. Nothing, so it seems light tight enough. And this was with my home printed dark slide too.
