    Got the 240 dialed in!

25’ to infinity at f16; 10’ to infinity at f32.5.

Just need to complete the fabrication.

A lot happening on this project:

-nearing completion of fabrication for the extended lens board for the 240 G Claron

-decided to try mounting a 305mm lens as well. Worked out the design and calculated I needed a new front box 5 1/8" total depth to start. I'm well on the way to getting this new front box #2 finished. I'll use the extended lens board I made for the 240 in front of this new box

-the new (to me) Berthiot Perigraphe No. 3 f14 120mm arrived today, so need to mount it in the Ilex No. 3 shutter, get it on a lens board and dial in the focus.

If these additional lenses work out, I will have four to use on this camera: 120mm, 159mm, 240mm, and 305mm.

Will post pics tomorrow or the next day.

Re: 4x10 Point 'n Shoot Camera Build

The weather really kicked my butt this past week. Our first winter storm here at 9,000' in the Rockies. Over a foot of snow, not a problem by itself, but day after day of being in the clouds (visibility down to 200 yards instead of 40 miles), temps below zero, and winds gusting to 40-50mph or more. Made it difficult to dial in the focus at infinity for the 120mm and 305mm lenses or get outside for pics of the camera work in process.

Fortunately, the weather has let up so I'm now making progress again.

Here is the camera with the front box and the lens board extender adapter for the 240mm G-Claron. I was perplexed as to why my lens boards were not sitting flush, tried sanding the light trap on back of the lens board, as well as the light trap inside the extender, then finally realized I needed to add another 1/32 layer to the facing of the extender due to small amounts of glue in the layers of the extender box that caused the light trap inside (which the lens board rests on) to sit up a bit too much. After that realization, fabrication proceeded swimmingly.

So, the 240 is all dialed in and ready to go.

Looking forward to heading to Zion in a couple of days and possibly getting a chance to try out this new (to this camera) lens on the trip.

I'm also still working on mounts for the Berthiot Perigraphe f14 120mm and a Raptar f11 305mm.

Here is the tiny Berthiot in its brass barrel with aperture wheel.

I confirmed this lens will cover not only 4x10 but also my 7x11 camera ground glass.

I scored a new in box, front-mount Luc shutter that is a perfect fit for the Berthiot. However, the Luc has a flange in front--sort of a lens hood. Fortunately, this hood does not vignette the extreme wide angle lens for the 4x10 (~10.6" diameter); unfortunately, it does mechanically vignette on the 7x11 (~13" diameter), so I will have to rig up a front mount Packard shutter to use it on the 7x11...or try to hack off the flange/hood (anybody have experience with this?).

Thanks, Chauncey, for turning me on to both the Berthiot and the Luc. I think these will work great in the field.

    120mm lens mounted!

I had to build up the lens board frame 3/8" to fix the focus for the Berthiot Perigraphe 120mm lens.

The lens weighs less than 4oz; total of 6oz with flange and lens board.

A nice, lightweight, extreme wide angle 4x10 setup.

Re: 4x10 Point 'n Shoot Camera Build

    Got the 305 mounted!

This 305mm f11 Raptar is relatively light weight and fits in a size zero Rapax shutter, so it's a good fit for this camera.

My first thought on seeing the profile of the camera with front box #2 and lens board extender was "cannon."

    My second thought was "crazy."

I guess you never know you've gone too far until you have.

This second front box is 4 7/8" deep (compared to 2 1/4" for front box #1 for the 159mm Wollensak lens) and then I built it up another 1/2" to get the focus right.

    All four lenses:
    120mm

    159mm

    240mm

    305mm

I still think I will end up using the 159 the most, but it will be fun to have these other options.
