    Computar 270mm F9

I was able to rescue this lens from possibly going to the scrap heap mounted on a process camera. I can’t find much info on it other than it has some pretty good coverage for a smaller lens. Any info would be greatly appreciated. Didn’t come with a shutter only a lens cap...which is perfect for me. Lol. Click image for larger version.

Even the serial of the lens in thedatasheet (500616) is close to the one in your glass...

Great find! Huge coverage, I think 95 degrees at f/22. It fits a Copal 3S shutter.

I guess that datasheet says 72º wide open, 86º if well stopped, translation from japanesse is not perfect

Hmm. You may not be aware of this site's resources. One of the harder resources to find is the link in the first post in this https://www.largeformatphotography.i...mainly)-lenses discussion. That link will take you to a downloadable list of links to useful information, including to a discussion of f/9 Computar lenses in this very forum.

If you are using it as an enlarging lens, I suspect it will work well with 5x7" format. Is that what you found?

Should be in excess of 500mm, maybe even enough for 8x20...

I owned one of the 270mm Computers in barrel and can confirm that in fact it did cover 8x20. Once I acquired the 305mm F9 Computar in Copal #3 (which really cover this format with plenty of room to spare) the 270mm was sold.
