The Rauber and Wollensak Optical Company was started on July 1, 1899. Happy 120th birthday to the company that brought us the Verito, Vitax, Velostigmats, Raptars, and scores of other great lenses, shutters, and optical products.
While it lasted, Wollensak had a reputation for quality and the respect of its peers. There’s probably no more informed praise than Rudolph Kingslake’s: “for almost seventy years the name Wollensak represented some of the finest lenses and shutters made in Rochester.”
