    Re: Central Camera, Chicago

I finally got downtown at a time when Central Camera was open (which is now M, W, F and S 10:00AM-2:00PM). Actually, I got there at 2:35, but as I was looking through the window to see what was there, one of the sales people came over and opened the door so I could buy a roll of film. CC has set up shop next door to the old location, where the health foods store was. They have a good stock of film and paper and are starting to get a decent stock of equipment. They even have some used LF for sale. Attached are a photo of the exterior, a view through the front window (with lots of reflections) and two interior shots.

Yep. The old location is still boarded up. In my picture, the plywood is barely visible under the awning and the new green sign over the new location shows better in color than B&W.

Didn't think to pull out my phone this morning, but progress continues. The floor is poured and being buffed. We shoot large format; when we rush, what happens?

I don't know if this has been covered already, but I just stopped in this morning. They had a flood in the temporary space, so as of a week ago they are rushed back into their original currently-unfinished space. It's a mess right now, but I found it somehow reassuring to find them back. Things appeared to be hopping.
Thanks, but I'd rather just watch:

    Fantastic!

Maybe I stay at the Palmer, and visit all my old haunts after Labor Day

There is no reason to leave that area
