Thank you, fellows. Seriously.

I picked up the lens about six months ago to use on the Kodak Master Camera. What I love about the Vitax is that it's a Petzval with an integrated shutter (as long as you find one with a functional or repairable shutter), which makes it possible to use it with a smaller lens board (no Packard required) and still get pretty quick exposures. I'm taking this setup overseas for six weeks starting June 26.

Here is another picture from that day (May 1, 2019). These kids are 22 years old, engaged to be married. Same camera and lens, also printed last Sunday. In both Vitax portraits, the sharp areas are quite sharp, though this is lost in the scanning and compression of the image. The print is the thing.



These kids shoot medium format film in a borrowed Hasselblad and send it out for processing and printing. They'd never set foot in a darkroom, so I invited them to join me when I printed last Sunday. They spent the whole day. I gave them a Diana toy camera loaded with expired TMAX and had them shoot through the roll and then process the film themselves. They're going to gather what they need this summer to start at least processing medium format in their bathroom.

Finally hooked up my scanner so you all might actually start seeing some images from me. This is my mother who was always very patient sitting for me. She recently passed. 810 APX100, with a Wollensak Velostigmat series IV 12” f6.3. This was kind of fun as I was visiting my folks in Tucson and set up a temp darkroom in the laundry room. Between a local camera store, Home Depot, and industrial supply I was able to get everything to develop and contact print the negs. Hope it’s ok that I posted here, the image I several years old but I just scanned it yesterday.

Shot earlier this month. I was stupid though and mixed up which film was where and developed this wrong. Really disappointed as the color in her outfit was great and the soft light was nice, but mistakes happen.

So the mistake was processing color neg film as B&W?

Looks like a dangerous perch.

The glare is what bothers me.

Yes on the processing error.
I have another shot, on HP5, that I have yet to develop. I wanted some flare but perhaps it would've been a bit more tolerable in color. I can see it, in my mind.
We'll see how the other sheet comes out.

Regarding location...to get far enough away I was on the other side of the railing on my side of the bridge, much more precarious .

I just started shooting 8x10 again this past week. Just a quick test shot with a new(to me) lens. 8x10 Fuji Green HRT X-Ray film with 18" f4 American Optical projection lens.
