    Vogel lens

Can anyone shed any light on this lens or the maker? I know Vogel was in Philadelphia and have seen a couple of petzval type lenses on the internet but nothing like this.

A friend of mine has just got it, he says:

Jules Vogel with roller wheel stops, about 7 1/2 inch, internal paddle for
open and close. The hood removes, and the serial number under it is 7865.

    Many thanks,
    Peter

That is a strange one. The way the trademark engraving is cut off by the hood, makes me think it was an alteration, after the factory made it. I've never seen a square window on a lens hood either. Possibly to do a vignette effect.

Thanks Garrett, yes, it is mighty odd...

Does anyone know anything of the history of the maker, Jules Vogel - dates for instance?
