Dismally dark, until I took it apart and thoroughly cleaned it inside and out. Cut new filters and replaced any that had faded. There was dust and humidity marks inside the filters. Now fresh and pristine.

I can read small print on a label, standing all the way across the room,. I love this new safelight!

Extra Thomas Safelight Bulbs by Nokton48, on Flickr

I bought some spare sodium vapour bulbs for the Thomas Super Safelight. I will keep one or two and sell the rest.

    Hi Daniel,

I bought a spare for mine about 20 years ago.

Never have needed to change it. The original still works fine.

I don't use the darkroom 40 hours per week; probably half that.

    Yes, thank's Greg!

Your video has convinced me to try one out.

I found a reasonably priced one last week. It has glass and filters, but no bulb. Just as I wanted.

B&H has a deal on original bulbs right now until they sell them all. I bought 2.

I also bought plenty of your exact specified filter material. Making them next week.

As soon as I can get the huge old ceiling fan removed the rebuilt Thomas goes up. My new Darkroom is almost exactly the right size. A bedroom...

Mine has OE filters and tape, but they are obviously well faded.

Here is a YouTube that shows how the faded old filters look side by side with new ones. Not my video. But her others are also good.

As I wrote on your YouTube, 'The Naked Photographer' is a name we don't forget. Good one!
