The more modern 240mm plasmats come in a Copal 3 shutter. Big. Alternatives in a Copal 1 shutter are a G Claron, Fujinon A, or Doctor Optic. Older lenses, such as Ektars, Paragons, Raptars...come in close focal lengths, 10" being common. The lenses are cheaper, but often a clean/lube/adjust needs to be done on the shutter, and the older lenses often have non-current-standard filter requirements.

If your budget is short, a G-Claron is your best bet.

Si no quiere gastar mucho el G-Claron es lo major.

Does it have to be exactly a 240mm lens? A very inexpensive "close" option is the Fujinon 250mm f/6.3. If a slightly longer focal length is acceptable, then it's worth a look. They sell for around $200 USD on eBay.

Fujinon 250/6.3 sits in a Copal 1 shutter and weights 590 grams (not counting shutter). Image circle is 312mm at f/22. It takes 67mm filters.

I have the Fujinon 210/5.6. It's a very nice lens.

Schneider G Claron---comes in a modern No.1 shutter, single coated, tack sharp APO, acres of wiggle room (it covers 8x10 with movements) takes screw on filters in a size common to 35mm SLR lenses(I forget exactly which size but the filters borrowed from my Nikon F2 kit fit the "G") so used filters are easy to find at good prices if you don't already have some.

What is your format and how small is your budget?
Fujinon 250/6.7 has dramatical price drop nowadays.
It would be nice choice for 8x10 or 5x7 with extensive movements.

I've been shooting with a 240mm G-Claron for a while. While only single coated, it performs well both at infinity and at macro ranges, depending upon your bellows draw. The literature lists it as being optimized up to 5:1. And it takes 52mm filters, which as noted above, are a standard size for 35mm gear.

I use a 240mm G-Claron which I really like. Haven’t use any other 240mm’s so I can’t compare. I can say that the G-Claron is reasonable compact and was affordable.
