Is it weird to say that even if I just recently started shooting this 4X5 format I'm kinda looking forward working on with a 8X10?

I also don't think it is weird at all. I find 8x10 far easier to work with. Not easier to carry, of course. I think 8x10 is my ideal large format for usability, though would give the edge to whole plate if you factor in bulk and weight.

It would be weird if you weren't...

    Excellent images, btw!

Like some of you have read in another topic I had some troubles with the development of this picture, so I had to some Post & Retouching work with it.

    11x14 tintype on aluminum.
    Chamonix 11x14
Beseler Series III 18 in. f/3.6

Test plate for a wet plate demonstration.
First 11x14 portrait done in my portable dark tent.
It was tight but all the 11x14 gear fit.
Pouring big plates outside is definitely a challenge.
Plate was underexposed and a little over developed.

"Scanned" sloppily with a Canon 5D3.

    Nicely done!
The pose, prop, outfit & environment all create for an appealing photo.

I'm not into portraits but that's fascinating, neildw. Lovely palette, perfect focus.
