Shackles/Pins that hold on ground glass back

Does anyone know a source for the shackles or pins (I am not sure of exact name) that go into the springs that hold on a ground glass back?
The one shown in the photo is from a Deardorff I think but anything that has the same characteristics should work.

    Simon,
I've seen pins similar to this on Kodak 8x10s, but the Kodak ones are either all brass or brass with a steel pin. I have searched McMaster-Carr for something similar without success.

You might also try contacting catlabs; they have some Deardorff parts:

Try a search for 'Deardorff parts' on eBay. There are a few items there, many sold by Catlabs. I think Deardorff used to have an eBay shop; it doesn't appear to be around now.

These shackles and pins are always hard to source. I've never found a place that has them. You have to make them yourself or re design it. I'm currently building a back for an Ebony and they don't use this.

    Maybe try Richard Ritter?

Is that just a straight pin? I could probably turn one down for you on my lathe if I knew what the dimensions of the part was.
Newly made large format dry plates available! Look:

Thanks for all the replies! It is not a straight pin alone but a pin and a retaining clamp wrapped around the pin. MacMaster have a variety of pins and I may look at drilling a hole in the side of the back to hold the pin and then epoxying it in. There is sufficient thickness in the wood to hold the pin. I am building a 4 X 10 point and shoot and a 4 X 10 focusing camera.

The pin is easy, the 2 folds are easy, the stamped crimp over the pin shank is less easy. The 2 holes are holes.

Making 100 of them is complicated by the size variations between cameras and format. Too many variations.

I would modify the design. Drill holes first, as usual. One folded ear full length.

Weld, braze or solder the pin on top.
