I am in need of a 49mm retaining ring for a 210mm eskofot ultragon I scored recently. I know Grimes will make me one for $35, but alas, I am a cheap bastard and don't want to pay more for the ring than I did the lens. I do have a bunch of retaining rings and flanges, none of which fit my lens. I would love to trade some for a 49mm ring!

Maybe take the lens to the hardware store and see if any ideas come up. I have heard of people using snap rings. Maybe tread some kind of softer material like plastic or even wood. At least you could try it out.
