A good season for NY photographic auctions

The Fall auction results at Sotheby's and Christie's are on line. Looks like it was a good season. There were only a small percentage of prints which failed to sell, most everything met or exceeded its estimate, and in many cases there were notable outliers (Dorothea Lange's "White Angel" went over $800,000. Looks like there's still some life in the old girl after all.

A good season for NY photographic auctions

The Dorothea Lange print as well as an Edward Weston nude each came from the collection at the Museum of Science and Industry in Chicago and sold for about the same amount each. I saw the article in yesterdays paper. I didn't realize he was born in Highland Park, north of Chicago.
