@Emi, lovely portrait! I think the toning adds a lot in combination with the rendering of those old cooke lenses.

I'll start us off, comment and critique welcome.

Beautiful subject and very sharp image. Did you invert image? I can read nokiN instead of Nikon.

Yeah I scanned the negative backwards I think (Even though it was emulsion side down), I flipped it when I was processing it, but I actually like it better this way, despite the mirrored lettering.

    Emil, thanks for starting February.

Howard, top notch portrait. Lighting, hair, expression and tones stand out for me.

hsandler -- I agree with chassis on this one. Both you and the subject should be very pleased with what you both have achieved.

I often make a flipped portrait to show to the sitter. Occasionally I get a reply like "You're the first photographer to get me as I really am." Why? The flipped portrait shows a familiar face just like the one the sitter sees every day in their bathroom mirror; but not how everyone else sees them.

Very good start with beautiful images. I took this image two weeks ago with a Graflex 5x7 Home Portrait camera and an Emil Busch Portrat Objektiv 245mm f/3 lens.Click image for larger version.
