Century Kodak no 7 - restauration

    Hi everyone,

Just wondering to take the wooden knob off from its brass base. There is a pin inside of it. It tried to take it off without success.

I want to take this part to strip the paint from the camera. Without taking this knob off, there is no way to remove this small mechanism.

Anyone who restored those know how?

    Thanks

One end of the pin might be tapered. You can sometimes remove it by pulling on the opposite end. I use a vice grip and gently turn it and it usually yields.

I have a 2 oz ball peen hammer and would first as Jac suggests, determine the correct direction to pull or tap.

Then a tiny drift may help tap it out.

The damned taper pins can be the devil, especially if peened in place.

Sometimes grind off the peen area with a Dremel, then start the careful tapping.

Two oz! A priceless tool! Subtle and perfectly fit for such use. I bought one for my wife to drive nails to hang her artwork, and very shortly after another for my tool chest.

My favorite hammer with hickory handle.

Used the same one 40 years. Snap On

The camera shown is not the OP's camera.
