Saturday April 13, 2019: 39th Annual Camera Show & Swap; Kent Washington

The Puget Sound Photographic Collectors Society's 39th annual PSPCS Sale, Swap & Show of pre-owned, user, collectible and antique photographica.

The largest one day Camera Sale, Swap and Show in the Western United States will be held on Saturday April 13th 2019 from 8:30 am to 4 pm at Kent Commons Recreation Center - 525 Fourth Ave North; Kent, Washington. Over 150 six foot tables piled high with digital, film, antique, “user” and collectable photographic related goodies will be displayed or offered for sale or trade by collectors and camera buffs from across the Western United States and Canada. There will be up to twenty-five display tables exhibiting unusual photographic collectables from the collections of Puget Sound Photographic Collectors Society members. The sale/show is sponsored by the Puget Sound Photographic Collectors Society, and the 39th Annual Show is expected to be the best one yet!

The sale is a virtual cornucopia of all things photographic--literally thousands of photographic items will be offered for sale or trade. Included will be “user” cameras (both digital and film), lenses, accessories for current and collectable cameras, darkroom equipment, instruction manuals, literature and images dating back to the earliest years of photography. Fascinating antique and collectable cameras attract buyers from around the United States, Canada, Europe and Asia. The instruments that recorded our history have truly become prized treasures. The Puget Sound Photographic Collectors Society, Inc., organized in 1979, is a non-profit (501(c) 7) group of photography enthusiasts dedicated to encouraging public awareness and appreciation of our photographic heritage. The public is welcome to bring any photographic items they would like to have appraised or to trade or sell. The doors will open to the general public at 10:00 am Saturday April 13, 2019; General admission is $5.00. For the more serious collector, an 8:30 am early admittance can be purchased for $15.00. Plenty of FREE parking is available.

For General Show Information: General admission at 10 am is $5.00, or buy an Early-in at 8:30 am for $15.00. The show hours are 8:30 am to about 4 pm.

Post show Footnote: The show drew just over 500 shoppers which is about the same number as in the past, but there were more "early ins" than in past years, and shoppers stayed longer. Sellers generally did considerably better than in the past several years. More younger (20 somethings) came and--believe it or not--they were buying film cameras. The club is hoping this trend continues.

Were they buying LF or mostly roll film gear?

I'm sad that I hadn't seen this when it was announced. I'd certainly have made the trip!

Randy, the thing that was selling hotly was small point & shoot 35s: Olympus XA series, Konica C35, Chinon Bellamy, Olympus stylus.

Next was probably Pentax lenses, both M42 and bayonet. After that, maybe Olympus OM stuff and Nikon lenses. A small amount of darkroom stuff, Nikor tanks, Beseler odds and ends, but I didn't see any enlargers sell. I have an NOS "FR" adjustable (4x5) sheet film tank, mint in the box with instructions. I thought it would go, but it didn't. I wasn't able to follow medium or large format on other tables. There were a lot of new, younger (20 something) shoppers this time...which is good.

    Thanks for the details.

LF gear may take another 5 years to revive.

    But it will!
