Sinar Norma Shutter: backwards compatibility with P/F/X camera systems?

I was lucky enough recently to buy a 5x7 Norma from a gentleman here on LFF, and am in the process of keeping what I think I'll use here in the Appalachian backcountry and looking to "part out" the pieces of the system I don't think fit my particular photographic aspirations. Toward that end, I just the had the Sinar Norma shutter included in the deal CLA'd by Bob Watkins at Precision in preparation for listing it here at LFF.

Before I list the shutter for sale, though, another forum member advised me to make sure that the Norma shutter is compatible with those later Sinar systems that came after the "Norma era." If it's not clear already, , I'm a complete novice when it comes to Sinar systems, so any thoughts/caveats/complications you might have so I can be clear in my "ad copy" will be greatly appreciated.

My Norma shutter won't fit into my Sinar P. All of my Sinar gear was bought used so although it looks like it is "the right stuff" I can't say with certainty.

Thanks for the reply, Jeff--that's an interesting data point since I've gotten conflicting advice from experienced Sinar users that the Norma shutter should be "good to go." Maybe someone will be along that can get both of us sorted...

Perhaps Bob Watkins at Precision Camera Works will be able to provide an authoritative answer to your question.

I know the question was only about Sinar systems.

However I converted a Linhof Color Kardan and a large copy camera to Horseman frames which are easier to convert than Sinar frames. And no conversion was necessary for 4X5 and 8X10 rail Horseman.

Just adding to your database of potential usages.

I have a Norma Shutter with both cables, so not in the market.

I have three Norma shutters in my studio. I use them on Normas. If I were you I would leave it to the buyer to sort this out.

Talking to your repair guy is a good idea.

Ha, that might be good advice Daniel. FWIW, I just shot a quick note to Precision--Bob's out of town, but he relayed a message that some people do have trouble fitting the shutter to the camera (I'm assuming non-Norma) frame, but that there are ways to make it work.

While we're waiting, though: is it SIGH-nar or SEE-nar?

In the USA most people say Sigh'-nar, but that's not good German, of course. That would be Zee-nar', but I'm not a native German speaker, and so I'd be happy to be corrected. If you say that in the USA, to a dealer, for example, they will likely think you mean Xenar. It can get confusing. I'm just happy if Americans pronounce the last syllable of Porsche.
