Enchanted Forest: A Carbon Transfer Print

I originally made the photograph in Summer, 2023, at one of my favourite locations in Kurume City, Japan. Sasayama Jinja, sits on top of old castle ruins. The photograph was made with my Mamiya-Six folder and Rollei 400 IR, with a 720 filter. I made the print with a couple of digital negatives.

Andrew that's wonderful...thank you so much for sharing this!

I came very close to making the trek out to Yosemite last spring for Vaughn and Jim's carbon transfer workshop but could not quite swing it, and likely would not be able to until the spring of '25, but your work (as well as Vaughn's and Jim's) inspires me to get my act together and do this!

Yes it might be likely that I might never truly have the time to get up to speed on something like this process...but there is always time to give it a try!

Thank you, John! Give it a try! I did way back in 2008, and I'm glad I did. It's a lovely process. I taught myself (inspired by Sandy King's work and writings), without the luxury of a workshop. They were just too far away. But, if I had had the time and money back then, I would have taken one up. If you have the opportunity, take one. Cheers!

    Great video/print, Andrew!

I learned from a short article in ViewCamera magazine in the early 90s. A workshop back then would have helped a lot...nothing 'online' back then. Jim and I are looking at scheduling a Yosemite carbon workshop for April 2025...and getting ready for our next one this coming April. Fun stuff!

Thanks Vaughn. I think it's clever the two of you joining up to teach carbon workshops. Lucky students!

...yeah, and I could probably go into business pressing clothes with my Seal Masterpiece 500. Have a little kiosk or drive-by booth..."Clothes Pressed In Seconds...While You Wait!"
