Crown Graphic Field Camera Project

After buying a dirty, but nice unaltered Crown 4x5 on Saturday, I have come very close to the camera I need. After removing all of the Gizmos, I am down to the basics. I took off 14oz. of stuff so now with my 203mmF7.7 Ektar the camera weighs in at 4 pounds and 10 ounces! I also reversed the front standard to provide forward tilt. I am embarrassed about the quality of my pics, but I'm so excited I can't see straight! Thanks to you who helped me on this site. Hope to start using as soon as the weather warms up.

I have owned a couple Crown 4X5's over the years and did exactly what you have done (I think I even removed that sports finder frame that comes out of the top of the front standard) - now get out and shoot, weather be damned

Very nice. Winter is a great time for getting out. I am in Southern Alberta if it is not blowing, snowing or -20C, the light is great all day! Was just out yesterday, awesome light.

Good for you! I'm tempted to remove the inoperative focal plane shutter from my Speed Graphic just to lighten the load.

NOOOOO! Fix the FP shutter & use it w/ barrel lenses then get a Crown for the shallower body so you can use wider angled lenses.

Crown Graphics have front tilt....
Drop the bed, raise the front standard, use the backward tilt of the front standard to adjust and fine tune the amount of front tilt you want.
