I have the 30"NEC with Spectra View sitting alongside a 30"Apple Cinema. Night and day in favor of the NEC. I can set the brightness low enough to get a good match to paper, but I still wind up doing a couple of test prints - paper is fundamentally different than a display in more ways than just brightness - you perceive things differently when looking at paper.

You would expect the 30" NEC to be better. Apple retired the Cinema display in 2011 so they are getting long in the tooth.

Took you long enough. Inkjet printing is hard enough without being able to see what we're doing. A fully calibrated workflow with a first class monitor is a must in my book. I've been using the NEC Spectraview monitors since the CRT days. Worth it to me. Just sayin'.

Now, have you got full spectrum D50 lighting for print viewing?

    You're right !

Can you recommend something for lighting ?

When I've shown work at galleries and schools I've been surprised at the variety of lighting. Everything from flourescent bulbs to halogen spot lights.

I use Solux bulbs, which I believe are a high-end museum standard.

Me too. Light quality is excellent. But the MR16s run really hot. Not going to win any awards for efficiency.

OTOH, the Philips ExpertColor LEDs also provide really high quality light. I use the Par30s bulbs for display lighting. These don't run nearly as hot. They are, instead, expensive. It's always something...

I'm slowly but surely moving over to LEDs when I can. The Solux people aren't showing any signs of working with LEDs however. Notice that I didn't even mention fluorescent lighting at all. Just sayin'.

Like these? Please specify. I'm shopping for light.

The Philips ExpertColor LED look good to me on the spec sheet.

What bulb color do you prefer.

I want them for lighting art of all kinds.

Big Congrats. I use a NEC 27" Spectraview calibrated display, but I've always heard the Eizos are the very best.
