    Vuescan acting wonky!

I scanned several files at 6300dpi, 48bit rigb color slide output to 48 bit rgb and files saved fine. The were 4.3gb raw tifs. Then for some reason, I do a scan with same settings, file shows it should be 4.3gb in size, but saves at 1 gb because it reduced the dpi resolution by 50%, it just happens on random files. Anyone get this before? If so, what fixed it? I restarted Vuescan, updated to latest, restarted V850, etc. Most annoying. Mac running latest version of High Sierra.

    48bit rigb color slide output
Out of interest, when doing the above, why does it scan the negative twice

    Yep,

When you exceed the max image size for regular tiff which uses 32 bit pointers, Vue scan will resize. Vuescan does not support bigtiff (64 bit pointers)

Which is odd because I made two scans at 4.28gb file size and it saved those fine and tbey opened fine too.

I am going to try the raw compression it is a lossless compression so no data loss. If that works, should be fine.

why don't you write to ed ( the person who wrote the software ).

I did, he just said same thing, andraw compression is lossless and to experiment. Had no suggestions as to why it worked and then didn't. I have pro version for last 10 or 15 years, don't remember exactly.

That would be nice. Save in something like psb format could work to as a ps option. Or go to big tif since most systems are 63 bit now anyways.
