The Thyssen ironworks in Duisburg was in operation from 1901 to 1985. After the closure, the pollution was largely cleaned up and made ready as a city park. Most of this area is now freely accessible for everyone to enjoy this unsightly beauty.
Since the park is open day and night, you can take pictures undisturbed early in the morning (this was 6:30 am).
