CHAMONIX old generation vs. CHAMONIX V8x10

Hey, im just researching Chamonix 8x10 and i noticed that the first generation has a different base. it seems its more narrow.
Is the old generation also stable? could i use also heavy lenses on it? and what are the other differences between both ? - bellows draw is the same?

    thank you

When using heavy lenses on my Chamonix 8x10, I constructed an adjustable lens support bracket that is screwed into the base usually one or two screw holes in front of the front standard. It takes all the stress from the weight of the lens being mounted onto a Sinar shutter and then onto the front standard.
