I believe the 1414 was sized specifically to slide into the into the condenser slot of the Durst 10x10 Condenser head. That is why the cord, pilot light and heater switch all are on the same side. Although my Aristo 1414 came mounted just to the top of my negative carrier stage with no other 'head' on the enlarger.
I sold the 1414 to make way for a CLS2000, and the new owner of the Aristo 1414 had a new V54 tube made for $500.

Tube count?? There is ONE tube. But I think you mean the number of bends. There are 13 bends on my V-54 replacement. IOW, a straight-edge laid over the lamp would cross the tube that many times.

I know there is one tube, but Aristo uses tube count...and made at least 3 different 3 tube counts...

And I think they made 2 combined stacked tubes for smaller heads.

I have a very old Beseker 5X7 cold tube head green light that fits on an MX chassis and last night I realized I gave away the only MX I had,,, so it goes.

Re: Aristo 1212 Cold Light Head Images?

Today I opened up a second Aristo 1212 head to see what we have.

The left one I already wrote about here. 17 'tubes' with an external transformer and DIY temp compensator.

Today's right one has everything inside the box and has the very dark grey circle I learned was an Aristo suggested improvement. Also 17 'tubes', both the same tube and color when lit.

The all in one head must run hotter as it's diffusion panel is warped, yet still very usable.

    Just for the eternal record.

Re: Aristo 1212 Cold Light Head Images?

I have a couple of questions regarding a similar cold light that came with my Durst S45. I just upgraded the bulb to a V54 and am looking for info regarding the reflector plate. For those that are using the newer bulb, have anyone found the gray circle to be an beneficial?

Also someone had a photo of the back side of the reflector plate. In the photo below, can someone explain the wiring and parts? Do I need to be concerned that this part needs to be redone if the original V45 bulb was working? Thanks!

My V54 doesn't have any gray circle. But since 12X12 is distinctly oversized for 8x10 film (which I use it for), there is no illumination falloff apparent at the edges at all, in that is the concern. I do use a mild flat diffuser sheet between the cold light and neg carrier.

The circles (mine is off-white) were Allen Johnson's, Aristo, remedy to even the illumination.

Also, there were a few units produced for special order that had extra bends (longer tube, more tubes, whatever) for greater light output.

Re: Aristo 1212 Cold Light Head Images?

I have a special high-output V54 unit, 12X12. It makes split printing through even a deep blue 47B filter fast and easy. Totally even illumination with my 305 Apo Nikkor lens. Perhaps the illumination correction you're referring to was due to lens falloff with a shorter focal length lens, rather than a fault of the cold light itself. I typically use convex ground diffusers for than kind of issue.
