My interest in large format military aerial lenses began when I worked with the RAF and USAF in 1965. I thought that given the boundless budget of the defense department, the lenses must be be the best of the best. Well the lenses were just adequate not stunning but their application was exceptional considering methods we LF photographers not need not consider, for example how the images were studied by highly trained photo interpreters using stereo viewers. A trained brain can 'see' more than is presented.

We might present the same on a digital display but the idea makes my stomach hurt.
