    Cambo ground glass replacements?

I have a Cambo SC, and the ground glass that came with it (second hand) kind of sucks. ItÂ’s a fresnel and ground glass (I actually think itÂ’s plastic) combo and the image is really high grain and goes black in the corners. IÂ’ve been planning on changing it out for a Standard cambo GG. My question is weather it would be thrown out of focus since the First ground part is on the back of the screen (instead of the front), unlike a regular GG?

How do you know it's not backwards right now?

Because it came set up this way and I can’t imagine that the fresnel side would be facing the viewer.

This is an often contested subject. My interpretation is that a Fresnel is a lens and should be between the camera lens and ground glass. Spacing of each is the fundamental.

For my own mental health, I do not use Fresnels, and space the ground glass where it works.

    Good luck, my friend

For that particuliar camera the fresnel surface should be on the viewer side, not the lens side. That way the ground glass surface is where it should be, equal to the depth of the film holder. Have you noticed your images are a bit soft focus when you get your film back?

All of my photos have been in sharp focus. Are you saying that the textured fresnel part should be facing me?

The fresnel surface with the concentric rings should be facing back towards you when you are looking through the camera. Two of the cameras I have worked on recently have had the focus screen in the wrong way.
