    Rodenstock Tiefenbildner Imagon 1:5.8 f=42cm

My latest challenge is to master the use of this lens. I suspect there is quite a learning curve which might get a bit expensive in the 8x10 format. This lens has a serial number of 2303961 and is mounted in a big Zettor shutter shown partially open. I've never seen another one like this and suspect it is a custom engineered one-off. Does anyone know?

I've used the Mamiya 150mm SF lens, which has the same perforated rings. It's soft focus effect is best at near full openings. It does need so me testing, it's also dependent of the subject. You could test on 4x5" (reducing back).
I own the gear, but those don't make masterpieces. My everyday experience.

The Zettor is a well made shutter, which works better than some of the other similar shutters. Underneath the release arm is a partly concealed release cable thread. It is usually used as an "in front of the lens" shutter, but this may be a version where the flange is attached to the front casing - there must be a spacer to keep it clear of the selecter wheel. Or the owner has cut some threads in the casing.

    Thanks for the link.

I copied, converted to PDF and printed to put in my Imagon 360 mm set. Good ideas are there. that I need to remember.

I have two Imagons and really enjoy them. I often shoot without the disks in. Have fun on your new journey.

Maris, can you show us a side and back view to see the mounting of the shutter?

Definitely not a one of, I've quite a few of them and I own one.

I've only seen one 48cm Imagon and it may be the only one out there.

    Cheers,
