I'm a fan of monopods, especially as I get older and shakier. I use a Manfrotto 290 CF monopod with an old Leitz ball head I had kicking around. It's a lightweight combination that works well for me.

Since RRS seems to have discontinued their CF monopod, take a look at Leofoto's offerings. https://www.leofoto.com/list.php?cateid=81

    Thanks guys

    I looked those up

I think this fits my needs, spike or rubber or a stand which I have and a small tilt head which I also have

price reduced, it looks like it was made in the same factory as my accessories above

    and a painful weapon

I used canes or crutches for years

I suggest that you rate tripods at ISO-3.

There are only three types of mounting flanges; too big, too small and wrong thread!

I went in a bit different direction.
Small CF Gitzo GT0541 tripod, no spikes though, but rubber ends are small and works fine on soft soil.
It’s long enough extended to use it as walking stick.
I never leave home without it.
Works fine small and medium format, even with Mamiya RB with 140 mm, must hold 4x5 field camera with some limitations and proper care.

A number of tripods from Field Optics Research have two removable legs the can be used as monopods, trekking poles, or shooting sticks. They also have single 32mm CF trekking poles that can be used as monopods, as they have 3/8-16 bolts at the head end (https://www.fieldopticsresearch.com/...-x36358524.htm).
