"If someone presents their business to the world solely through Facebook, they are potentially excluding a significant portion of the community they hope to connect with."

The reverse is equally true these days. If you have a business, all visibility is good visibility. Chop off part of your market, and you've. . . . . chopped off part of your market.
Thanks, but I'd rather just watch:

Pretty cool. I wonder if he could duplicate Zone VI enlarger lens boards.

Hmm. No prices. Hmm. How can I comparison shop without asking for a quotation?

Yes, a basic price list would be very helpful.

I agree, but FB is not the whole market.

Etsy I used to hate, but it's making more sense these days.

In time FB will fail. How many still use My Space?

Twitter and Pinterest, I use more and i hated them once also.

Price is very difficult to foretell for custom machining. Ask Leigh.

The last custom flange, I had made in Vietnam to accompany a lens, I made it a condition of the sale, as I knew custom work was much cheaper there.

FB's concept doesn't appeal to me. To do so, it would have a non-commercial base and millions of moderators!

My objection to FB is they fail to have the wisdom of this Forum's owner/leader and moderators to ban politics.

OK, I get it. It does make makes to me now. I'm not really happy with the FB forums, either - too much politics and such that annoy me. Then again, I've had my problems on forums, too, so I prefer to approach them carefully. Honestly, posts such as this are an honest attempt to help out my friend and to help this community get the machine work that many of us need. I just saw Dan this morning to get another flange made and he was happy that I posted this here.

My objection to Facebook is its "walled garden" model: there is so much content that cannot be seen outside of FB if you are not a member. I think walled gardens are a terrible idea.
