Has anyone used or know where to get a wet plate film holder for the Deardorff V8 that is thick enough to accommodate glass and not mess up the focal plane? Thanks. Joe.

Joseph,
I also have an 8X10 Deardorff I use for wet plate work, and I use a Lisco film holder that has been modified by the people at Lund Photographics for both tintype and glass negatives. The focal plane remains the same regardless of which material you use.
Chamonix makes new wet plate holders. http://www.chamonixviewcamera.com/wetplateholders.html
As Paul said, you can send in one of your own 8x10 holders, and Lund will modify it for you. Or you can order one from them already modified for wet plate.
This is the least expensive way to start shooting plates sooner.
I sent them a spare Fidelity holder and they did a great job on it.
Thanks Gents!
Or if you have a holder, you can cut the center out yourself and save $200.
