Is this where New55 went wrong?

It is really regrettable for me that I have missed this important part of the film history but I learned about New55 existence not long before its game over.

May I ask what will happen to the equipment, will it dismantled?

What will happen to the existing knowledge?

I see for example that http://www.new55.net/tutorials/ already contains a lot of missing material. Loosing this information will be huge loss for the film history and heritage.

Are there efforts to save this information?

Everything was preserved, carefully recorded, and kept intact including all IP, rights, processes, process machinery, tooling, fixtures, assembly tools, methods and DTR coating formulations for a later sale as a single unit.
