Favicon (short for Favorites Icon) is a feature that makes it possible to associate a special logo with a web page. The favicon is usually displayed next to the web site address and bookmarks.

This is an invitation to create and submit a Favicon for lfphoto.info. You can post a link to your creation in this thread, or email it to me. In about a month, I'll initiate an informal vote to choose the winner.

The Favicon is a 16x16 image. Here is a tutorial on how to create one:

Emrehan - The same thought occurred to me. Let me see what I can do with it.

The problem with favicons is that they are small, and square. The Mammoth Camera image is rather horizontal, and contains a fair amount of detail. I have tried to capture the essential portion in square format:

Here is an image of an older LF camera.

As you can see, good icons are an art form. Perhaps the letters L and F as LF would be sufficient, distinct, and descriptive.

    Ken,
The first image may be difficult to arrange. The second one looks like an easier job - it's a good one too.

This is what I came up with:

I first tried reducing photos, but that wasn't too successful. So I drew one in Photoshop. I wanted it to be recognizable as a LF camera of some kind, and have some dimension to it.

I don't know Brian, it looks like the head of a Pez dispenser to me.

16x16 is a tough medium, indeed!

Oh, boy, Pez in LF format! Could you imagine trying to down an 11x14 Pez?
