Sanderson "Hand and Stand" Quarter Plate modified for 9X12cm

    Hello.

I am proud to present my new toy, a beautiful mahogany Sanderson quarter plate camera that I have converted to 9X12cm trying to let the camera as much original as I could. Circa 1902

I had some unknown brand 9X12 sheet film holders of good quality, quantity 6 that were taking dust in a closet, and with some model plywood I did this modification. I had to modify the ground glass register, narrow and lengthen the holder gate.

It is very light, and compact, I am currently making a lens board for a Rodenstock Apo Sironar S "digital" 135mm f/5.6. in a prewar Compur Rapid. I will need to remove the lens elements to close the camera but no big deal.

    Wonderful!

Sometimes the red Russian leather is still perfect

Great modification indeed keeping the looks of the camera as if original

    I finally bought a 135mm f/6.3 CZJ Tessar T from 1951 (70°angle, image circle 189mm @ f/22) and made a lens board.

    Lightweight camera, 1,1kg and 16X15X8cm

Cool beans on threading those Sironar-S elements into that Prewar Compur...so long as the spacing is accurate!

Modern Copal and prewar Compur have usually the same threading except for non standard lenses. Spacing is measured with a micrometer and eventually shimed. But I was unable to mount the lens and shutter on the Sanderson as the rear element interferes with the camera front standard So that's why I went for the Tessar.
