    What are these:

They came with some other photo stuff. The tops are 5/8 lighting studs, the screw holding the studs appears to be 3/8 / large tripod screw. The base has rubber around it. Some sort of quick release? I put it here because it might be something only adapted to lighting. And sometimes there threads are fun.

So what does the bottom end fit into. I have never seen a light stand that would take them. B&H has nothing like them except for the standard 5/8 stud part on top.

I tend to accumulate (boxes and boxes of) objects like this...things that I cannot quite identify but which I still cannot bring myself to part with - because, well, they just might come in handy someday!

With the rubber plug you can drill a matching hole in whatever you have, insert the plug and tighten the wing nut expanding the rubber. Give you a custom mounting position.

Could be a "Junior" sized plug which IIRC is 1 1/8". Many heavy duty light stands and grip equipment use that size where the stand has a socket and the device has a pin.

I have the same problem with little jars and plastic bags full of maybe redundant parts for something but that might come in useful some time.

Thank You! The aluminum ring at the bottom is just over an inch and I've found light stands with "Junior" sockets.

Picture search produced gears on shafts. Nothing close. Interesting!
