    Petzval ID

    Greetings !

    i have a no name Petzval with a pencil signature "WH" on both front and rear lenses. has anyone seen this signature and know the manufacturer ?

    I guess french lens, "Wallet & Hermagis"

    I can't find the images!

    William Hume made (sold) a lot more lenses than the short lived Wallet & Hermagis. I don't recall any early French lenses that had other than full names and the extra "Paris" written on the edge.

    This post made me curious about my big no name Petzval. But mine has a name on it. Alexis Millet.

    Jim, then you know what yours is, Millet is a well known french manufacturer.

    Seven, yes but one forgets sometimes with unmarked lenses and your post reminded me to check mine. Thankfully I could read the name.
